Tro'r Gleien Mission Hall

The Mission, Cwmtwrch (66 Heol Gleien, Lower Cwmtwrch, SA9 2TT) is an independent Christian fellowship established in 1912 with a firm commitment to reaching out to the community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It began construction in 1909 as the work of George Griffiths and others. Completed in 1912, on the 50th anniversary of its construction it was rebuilt in 1962.

I was kindly sent a photograph by Mr Len Howells of a scene by the river beneath the Mission taken in 1931, where Baptisms would take place.

Many converted during this religious awakening but when a man, born on 25th August 1885 at Harddfan Lower Cwmtwrch accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour on the night of 18th November 1904 in the Vestry of Beulah Chapel, his life and works would change forever. He became known as Pastor GRIFFITHS and 85 years later he was interred in the grounds of the Mission Hall which he helped found.
